Stone Maintenance

Our Recommendations for Preserving the Beauty...

Now that you have your dream kitchen or your luxury bathroom, you'll want to care for your investment so it gives you years of enjoyment and pleasure.

Simple care and maintenance will help preserve your stone's beauty for generations to come.

Care and Precautions
Use coasters under all glasses, particularly those containing alcohol or citrus juices.  Many common foods and drinks contain acids that will etch or dull the surface of many stones.  Do NOT place hot items directly on the stone surface.  Use trivets or mats under hot dishes and placemats under china, ceramics, silver or other objects that can scratch the surface.

Cleaning your Stone
You can clean your new stone surface with a few drops of mild liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water.  Use a clean cloth for best results.  Too much cleaner or soap can leave a film and cause streaks.  Do NOT use products that contain lemon, vinegar or other acids on marble or other stones.  Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with the soap solution and dry with a soft cloth.  Do NOT use scouring powders or creams; these products may contain abrasives that may scratch the stone.  Although you can use mild soap and water on your stone surface, STONETECH REVITALIZER is the best product to use.

We highly recommend  STONETECH REVITALIZER AND CLEANER.  It cleans with a gentle pH-neutral formula and can be used on a daily basis.  It helps to keep your natural stone looking new.  STONETECH is very easy to use.  You just spray it on and wipe with a clean cloth or paper towel.  It is the product that we use in our showroom daily.  We always have STONETECH in stock so you can stop by our showroom and pick some up on your way home from work.

Sealing your Stone
Sealing your stone is a very important step in maintaining the natural beauty of your counters.  Sealers help repel spills on the surface and maintain the shine.  On the day your counters are installed, our installers apply a coat of sealer, but it is important to remember that you should continue to apply sealer every 2-3 months during the first year and every six months after that.  StoneCraft also recommends the STONETECH SEALER which is also very easy to use - just apply a thin layer on the surface and let it penetrate the stone.  After 15 to 30 minutes, just wipe it dry with a paper towel.  It's that simple. Our showroom also has in stock a combination package of the REVITALIZER AND SEALER.

Honed Stone Surfaces
We get so many questions about honed surfaces.  Honed materials should be sealed more often than polished.  It is more succeptable to showing finger prints.  Over time, honed materials will develop a Patina.  Please ask one of our sales associates for more information and a more detailed maintenace plan for Honed Stones.
